Apple Days, Julian, CA

Among some of the many reasons we like living in Southern California is, a trip to the mountains is just an hour away. We decided to drive to Julian, CA, best known for it's apples, and spend the day. It's a small town about 62 miles northeast of our house. There's not much to the town besides a couple of blocks and about four or five different pie shoppes. I guess you can say we drove up there for a slice of pie. The weather was a chilly 55 degrees (Hey, that's cold for us!) but, sunny bright blue skies. After walking the town and sharing a slice of pumpkin apple pie (highly recommend it) we drove down the road and picked two bags full of apples. We also stopped at a local bakery and bought a loaf of Rosemary & Olive Oil bread. Funny that our whole day trip consisted of food. What else do pregnant women like?

Here's Stuart and I picking apples. I'm 22 weeks along and as Stu said, "getting big." Our sweet baby girl is quite the kicker. The other day Stu had his head on my belly (talking to the baby) and she must have really liked to hear Daddy, next thing you know a big kick right to Daddy's face! That was the first real movement Stu has felt and it was memorable.

SURPRISE!!! It's a Baby Shower!

My wonderful, thoughtful and sneaky co-workers at UCSD decided to throw a surprise baby shower for me. Everyone was acting a little odd that day, but I didn't think much of it. Somehow one of my co-workers convinced me to go to lunch, and swing by a "retirement party" before we ate. When they opened the door I was hesitant to go in, so I just said, "I'm not going in there, that's not a retirement party, that's a baby shower!"
I could not believe how beautifully decorated the room was. All of the pharmacy staff was there and some other good friends outside of the pharmacy too. It was absolutely perfect. I was overwhelmed and extremely grateful to have such caring people as my friends/co-workers.
